Q. What does Keshik mean?

It means Mongol cavalry soldiers. They ride horses to fight. We ride bikes, snowboards, skis, canoes, kayaks…

Q. Can I register myself as a member of the club?

Yes. The club is open to public. Everybody is welcome to join the club.

Q. How can I become a member?

Just fill out the registration form, sign the waiver and make a annual membership fee payment. Here is the waiver you will be asked to sign:

 

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY


In hiring Greater Chinese Community Ski and Outdoor Club for club membership or guest participation, I agree that participation is voluntary. I recognize that certain risks including risk of personal injury, death, property damage, expense and related loss, including loss of income are attendant to outdoor activities and by signing below, I assume those risks.

I do hereby waive and release any claims or rights against Greater Chinese Community Ski and Outdoor Club, its directors, officers, officials, trip guides, volunteers, other participants, owners of the facilities where the activities occur (referred to in the rest of this agreement as “THE CLUB AND OTHERS”) for any and all injury, damage, or loss to my person or property. THE CLUB AND OTHERS assume no responsibility for injury, damage or loss to a person or property incurred while participating in any Greater Chinese Community Ski and Outdoor Club activities or service.

I HAVE READ THIS AGREEMENT AND UNDERSTAND IT. I AM AWARE THAT BY SIGNING THIS DOCUMENT I AM WAIVING CERTAIN RIGHTS WHICH I OR MY NEXT OF KIN, HEIRS, EXECUTORS, ADMINISTRATORS AND ASSIGNS MAY HAVE AGAINST THE CLUB AND OTHERS.

Q. How can I help the club?

The club needs volunteers to organize activities and to guide trips. The club also accepts donations. Equipments, such as canoes, kayaks and accessories can also help the club. Contact us for more infomation.

About ski trips in North America


Q. What kind of ski trips does the club organize?

Two kinds of trips the club will organize, short distance trips and long distance trips.

Short trips will be based on ski resorts around Toronto and Ottawa. Our long trips normally reach north east of North America, including New York State, Vermont State, New Hampshire State, Quebec Province etc.

Q. How much is cost for ski trips?

The lift ticket price may be as low as half of the window price. Transportation and accommodation are not included, but the club can help to arrange.

Q. I am a beginner, can I join your ski trips?

Yes. There are many ski/snowboard instructors in the club.

Q. What kind of canoe trips does the club organize?

Whitewater and flat water trips to rivers and lakes in Ontario and Quebec.

Q. How much is cost for canoe trips?

Averagely $ 50/person/day. Including food, canoe.

Q. I am a beginner on canoeing, can I join your trips?

Yes. Each trip will be leaded by a experienced team leader. You will learn canoeing skill as well as canoeing safty along the tripl. But the number of beginners won't exceed half of the group size.

About bike tours in China


Q. Can I join a tour if I am not a member?

Yes, you can. Tour price includes one year membership fee.

Q. How can I take a biking tour?

1. Choose a tour and set the departure date either on our prescheduled date or the date works for you.

2. Fill out the registration form for the tour.

3. Pay a US$ 400 deposit either by Paypal or mailing us a check or a money order.

4. Ray will contact you either by email or phone if provided to make a detailed arrangement.

5. Our tour guide will greet you at the air port or the hotel in the departure city.

6. Pay the rest of the tour cost and sign a waiver.

7. Enjoy the trip.

Q. What kind of service does the club provide?

The club provides guided, fully supported bike tours. A professional bilingual guide will be riding with you. A supporting vehicle will be following you carrying your luggages or yourself when necessary.

Q. Can I have a private tour?

Yes, you can. We can also tailor-make a private tour for you. The route, the departure date, the difficulty level everything will be decided by you. Whether you go alone, with your family or with your friends, a private tour is a good choice.

Q. Can I join with others?

Yes, you can. Our scheduled tours are designed for this purpose. You can choose a scheduled tour and wait for others to join. The more people the lower the cost. You can also make a request to preschedule a tour then wait for others to join with you.

Q. How is the guide?

To find a guide for Keshik is really a very hard work, they need to have these quality: English/Chinese fluent speaking, strong enough for suffering all kinds of tough trip, smart enough to manage all kinds of emergence case, honest that you could trust; know the route very well, know the culture very well, know the minority group very well ;first aid trained, mechanical skill trained, cycling skill trained; They all have their unique personality.

Q. How is the logistic staff?

Logistic staff, they used to drive in army or drive public bus in the Great Tibet, they know well all kinds of bad traffic condition. After training by us, they know how to follow the cyclist, when should they catch up cycling team, and find the best spot for a picnic. They never complain, never discourtesy. They are the men you want to meet when you are tired.

Q. What kind of gear will be provided?

The club will prepare professional bicycles for the trips. The choice is based on experience of using all kinds of available bicycles for most tough trip. And we also prepare helmets, panniers, handle bar bags, rain caps for cycling and spare parts, tools for repairing.

Q. What kind of food will be provided on the road?

It is really a good experience of trying Chinese flavor hot meal, no matter you are vegetarian or not, we could find the proper dishes for you. Drink: coffee, tea, bottled water, Tang mix drink (fruit flavor), soft drink, beer, wine (one bottle only per day); Snacks: power bar, chocolate, nut, jerky.

Q. How about accommodation?

For big cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu (capitals of province), we choose 3-4 stars hotel. In small cities like most of the towns in western China, we choose the best one in these towns, make sure you have clean beds, hot water shower, clean bathroom. Some times we also choose very nice Tibetan guesthouses.

Q. Can I cancel a tour that I have booked?

Yes, you can.

The deposit is fully refundable if you notify us  28  days  before  the departure date.  50%  of the deposit  is  refundable if you notify us between 14 days and 21 days before the departure date. The deposit is non-refundable if you notify us with 14 days before the departure date.
